In-home tech support for people who work from home on Long Island. The computer, the Wi-Fi, the printer, the email — fixed at your desk, not at a shop.
Frequently completed within a day. Published pricing. The same person every time, across Nassau and Suffolk County.
If you work from home, your computer is not a hobby. It is the invoice that has to go out, the closing documents, the client on the video call, the tax return that is due Friday. When it stops working, the problem is not "my laptop is acting up." The problem is that your day has stopped, and the help desk at a big company is not coming, because you are the company.
Long Island Home Tech Help exists for exactly that situation. David Ramroop comes to your home office in Nassau or Suffolk County, looks at the whole setup — the computer, the Wi-Fi, the printer, the accounts — and fixes what is actually wrong. No ticket queue, no hold music, no shipping the machine anywhere. Most requests are handled within a day of reaching out, and you know the price before anyone arrives.
Who Calls Us From a Home Office
- Bookkeepers and accountants whose QuickBooks, tax software, or bank portal suddenly will not sign in on the new laptop.
- Real-estate agents who need the printer, the scanner, and the e-signature app to work the morning of a closing.
- Consultants, designers, and writers who live in email, cloud files, and video calls, and cannot afford a week of "it's probably the Wi-Fi."
- Therapists, tutors, and coaches who see clients over Zoom and need the camera, the sound, and the connection to behave every single time.
- Contractors and trades running the office side of the business from the kitchen table — estimates, invoices, photos from the phone, a printer that keeps dropping off the network.
- Remote employees whose company sent a laptop and a login but no one to call when the VPN, the second monitor, or the home network gets in the way.
You do not have to be a business to use this. Plenty of households treat it as their own help desk — one number to call when anything that plugs in or connects to Wi-Fi stops cooperating. Home offices and small businesses use the same service, at the same published rates.
What Breaks, and What We Fix
Anything between you and getting your work done counts. If you are not sure whether it is the network, the computer, the printer, the email account, or the software, that is the first thing we sort out — before anyone bills time for the wrong fix.
The computer itself
Slow to start, freezing during calls, updates that never finish, a hard drive making noises, a new machine still in the box that needs your files, logins, and printers moved over without losing anything. We do the work at your desk so nothing gets unplugged, packed up, or set back up wrong afterward. See also our guide to in-home computer repair for slow or freezing machines.
Wi-Fi and the home network
Video calls that drop at the same time every afternoon, a dead spot exactly where the desk is, a router from the cable company that locks up every few days, a printer that wanders off the network. We walk the house, find the real cause, and set the office up on a connection that stays put — often by moving the smart-home gadgets and the kids' devices onto their own lane. More on our Wi-Fi help page.
Printers and scanners
The one device every home office depends on and every home office fights with. We get it printing from every computer and phone in the house, scanning to the folder you actually use, and staying connected after the next update. See printer setup help.
Email, Microsoft 365, Google, and the everyday software
Mailboxes that bounce, a Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace account that will not sync, QuickBooks and Adobe sign-ins, password resets, browser sync, two-factor codes going to a phone you no longer have. The day-to-day friction that drains an hour at a time. See email not working and password help.
Video calls, VPN, and the second monitor
Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet set up so the camera, microphone, and headset just work. A second screen that shows what you expect. The company VPN connecting from the home network without a fight. The small things that make you look and sound like a professional to the person on the other end.
Backup and security
Cloud backup that quietly stopped running months ago. Antivirus that expired. The suspicious email or pop-up that needs a calm second opinion before anyone clicks. We make sure the protection you already paid for is actually working, and set up an automatic home data backup for the files your business cannot lose. If a fake virus warning has already appeared, that page tells you what to do first.
Accounts and subscriptions
Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Adobe accounts pick up clutter over the years — duplicate logins, expired subscriptions, an old recovery phone number, a family member's device that still has access. We get you a clean picture of which accounts exist, who can get in, and what you are paying for so you stop paying for things nobody uses.
How It Works
- Call or text. Tell us what is happening and what it is stopping you from doing. A quick clarifying call costs nothing, and we will be straight about whether this is the right help.
- Remote first, if it fits. Software, email, and account problems can often be solved from your desk with a secure remote session while you keep working on something else. Remote help is $110 for the first hour, or $75 for members, paid when you sign up — see pricing below.
- In-home when it matters. Anything involving the Wi-Fi, the printer, the hardware, or a setup that touches several devices is done in person, at your desk, in the real environment where it is failing.
- Frequently within a day. We do not promise same-day, but most requests are handled within a day of reaching out. If something cannot wait — locked out of email before a closing, no internet the night before a deadline — say so when you call.
- Written down before we leave. What was wrong, what was changed, and what to watch for, in plain words, left next to the machine.
What It Costs
You should not have to call to find out. Every rate is on the pricing page. In short: $150 for the first hour in your home and $50 for each additional half hour, or $100 and $45 on the $199-a-year membership, which also brings remote help down from $110 to $75 for the first hour. The first 30 minutes of travel each way is included (45 minutes for members). The first hour is the minimum. After that you pay for the time actually used, with no after-hours surprise on the bill and nothing added afterwards.
If you would rather not think about any of this, Annual Membership lowers your rate on every visit and keeps things simple long-term, so the small problems get caught before they cost you a workday. Most people start with one visit and add the membership later if they find they want it.
Why a Local Person Instead of a National Help Line
A national help desk routes you to whoever answers next, and they have never seen your office. The point of a local one is that the same person answers, the same person comes to the house, and the same person remembers what your network looked like the last time something broke. David has also run Long Island Marine Electronics since 2018, which is where the habits of showing up on time, explaining things properly, and standing behind the work come from. The company is fully insured. You can read more on the About page.

Common Questions From Home Offices
How fast can you get here?
Frequently within a day. We do not promise same-day, because we would rather keep our word than make one, but most requests are handled within a day of reaching out. If it genuinely cannot wait, say so when you call and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
Do I have to bring the computer somewhere?
No. We come to you. Working at your desk means we see everything that affects the machine — the Wi-Fi, the printer, the programs you actually use — instead of a laptop on a workbench with none of that attached.
Can you fix it remotely so I do not lose the afternoon?
Often, yes. Software, email, account, and settings problems are usually solved in a secure remote session while you keep working on something else. Remote help is $110 for the first hour, or $75 for members with the $199-a-year membership.
Is there a contract?
Only if you want one. Most people start with a single visit or remote session and add the Annual Membership later if they decide they want lower rates built in. Either path is fine.
My company gave me the laptop. Can you still help?
Usually. Anything on your side of the line — the home network, the monitor, the printer, the camera, a slow connection — is ours to fix. If a problem is locked inside your employer's software or security policy, we will tell you that plainly and help you explain it to their IT department instead of guessing.
Will my files and client data be safe while you work?
Yes. We treat your files as irreplaceable, because they are. Nothing is removed without showing you first, passwords stay with you, and if a drive shows signs of wear we say so before doing anything. For the files your business cannot lose, we set up an automatic backup so this is never a question again.
Can I reach you outside business hours?
Calls and texts outside hours are read, and answered when they involve something that cannot wait — locked out of email at 6 a.m. before a closing, or no internet the night before a deadline. Routine requests are answered the next business morning.
Are you insured?
Yes, fully insured, and happy to send the certificate before the first visit.
Tell us what has stopped working and what it is keeping you from. The conversation costs nothing.
